Interested in getting involved with recording the marine habitats and species that you see underwater and on the shore? If you are, this event could be for you.
COAST are working with the UK Seasearch project to run a Seasearch Observer course over the weekend Saturday 11th – Sunday 12th May. Saturday is a classroom-based training course with optional practical survey sessions on the Sunday. There will be experienced Seasearch trainers on hand to help throughout the weekend.
Seasearch recording can be done underwater by divers and snorkellers, or on the shore at low tide. No previous experience necessary. Through the training you will learn how to identify the type of seabed or seashore, marine plants and animals that you see, and how to record and submit your findings, which directly contribute to a better understanding of UK seas.
Participants under 16 must be accompanied by a full paying over 18 participant.
There are two types of course on offer:
New participants - Full course (£75)
Qualified Seasearch Observers - Refresher course (£35)
